Could someone simply explain what the differences are between these two articles? I believe I'm over (or under) thinking it. I have a stamped drawing that shows an outdoor service rated switchboard feeding two separate gear sections in opposite ends of a large campus building. My initial instinct was to recognize 225.30(A) but 225.30(B) makes me wonder if this is ok as drawn. Thanks in advance

I have not read the sections but why wouldn't it be compliant? The service-rated switchboard is your disconnect and the other panels are sub-panels.

Is this building really 2 separate structures?

The building is not being fed by more than one feeder or service. I may be mistaken as I am assuming gear sections means panels.

The main switchboard is outside and remote from the single building. From there two separate feeders are run to the building to two separate electrical rooms

So the switchboard is not only outside it is not attached to the building. If that is the case then I agree this would not be compliant as the disconnects would need to be grouped.

Exactly correct, sorry for the confusion. If the two feeders were to terminate in a standing breaker section before their respective electrical room we could satisfy 225.30(B)?

Special permission might allow this according to 225.30(C).

Also note the definition of a building in Article 100. Fire separated units could conceivably allow multiple feeders.
