I would check with the building code but around here if it has a roof attaching the buildings it is attached. Obviously not an NEC issue on this ruling.
The NEC never made conditions to determine if a building was detached or attached. This is strictly a building code issue or building department judgement call. If it was built prior to the 2008 NEC then 3 wire was all that was required if there were no metal pathways common to the buildings. Otherwise 4 wire is required if there is a feeder.Could be under older codes. 3-wire or 4-wire?

What if these were three seperate structures. Could you have 3 ways 'in' different buildings serve the covered areas? Could the three ways be on the outside of the structure?
