120 sq ft outbuilding, separate panel in building one 20A 208 tandem breaker, one 20 A for single LED ceiling lamp, 2 20 V outlets on single 20A breaker.

I installed 3 wire 10 AWG thwn in 3/4 RMC with 30A breaker of phase A-B in main panel. Everything in conduit.

Local AHJ said 6 AWG and 60A breaker required. I just said 'yes sir' rather than argue, but

Lots of existing 225.39 threads, but there is one AHJ out there that interprets as a 60A feeder needed. And of course 2 ground rods , etc...

The AHJ is mistaken. The disconnect discussed in 225.39 is the disconnect required by 225.31 at the building supplied, not the overcurrent device at the supply end of the building's supply.

Fortunately, the 2026 NEC will clear this up, as 225.39 has been amended to start off "The disconnecting means specified in 225.31 . . ."

Cheers, Wayne
