Is a 200 amp meter rated for 225? Or, do I need a 320/400. Also, is there a code reference to manual meter bypasses?

Around here we us the same meterbases for 200A and 225A. Bypasses in meterbases is a POCO thing not an NEC issue.

A 200 amp meter base is rated for 200 amps noncontinuous load and 160 for continuous load.

You will need a 400 amp base-- it is rated 320 for continuous load and 400 noncontinuous.

Don't forget that we don't follow the same rules that you have to follow. You are correct, we use a class 200 meter and a 200 ampere meter fitting for a 225 ampere service but you are not permitted to do the same. Ours come with a lifetime guarantee.

A 200 amp base on a 225 amp service has always concerned me, but I can't say I have ever honestly seen a resulting problem.
Here the meter base is a POCO call and to the inspectors is "invisible".
