Single family dewelling unit with three floors, six bedrooms, three bathrooms and total 600 amps one service lateral underground feds to trough that fed three separate 200a service disconnects grouped outside.

Each service disco feeds 200a panel inside home. Two panels are located first floor and third panel second floor.

Configuration single family home above is it allowable by Nec 230.40 exception no. 2?

Appreciate your input.

From your description you have one 600 amp service. Three grouped service disconnects outside

You are feeding three panels with feeders not service entrance conductors at three panels in different locations in a single family dwelling

230.40 addresses service entrance conductors, the feeder conductors you are supplying the interior panels with are allowed from a service location

Exception 2 is precisely what allows that installation.

exception 2 allows service entrance conductors say directly from a meter without a service disconnect

in applying exception 2 you would need a service disconnect as soon as possible after entering the building and the service disconnects would have to be grouped for example in the basement

IMO exception 2 has nothing to do with what the OP described what im I missing

His question would be no different had he asked if he could supply panels from three service disconnects grouped in a basement

three separate 200a service disconnects grouped outside.

To make things clear attached sketch to post #1.

That is a qualifying location for the buildings service equipment and if i understand correctly you are simply feeding three sub panels with feeders, no issue as long as you have four wire feeders

Exception 2 covers this part of the OP:

total 600 amps one service lateral underground feds to trough that fed three separate 200a service disconnects grouped outside.

The number of bathrooms and sub panels were red herrings.

Exception 2 is precisely what allows that installation.

I get what you mean for the outside service conductors, I took it that the OP was applying the exception
in relationship to the Sub-Panels

I assumed it was understood that the service disconnects could be installed attached to the dwelling

Or they can be outside like OP has.

All exception 2 is saying is the allowed two to six disconnecting means can be in separate enclosures and can still be supplied by a common service drop, lateral, underground service conductors....

Another thread on 2020 NEC says the two to six disconnecting means will no longer be allowed in the same enclosure, or at least same section of large switchgear.
