Just curious if there is a requirement to where exactly this needs to be installed. I have my 200 amp meter main outside to satisfy the emergency disconnect, and it has no provisions for any further circuits. In the house I’m am installing the surge protection device in the sub panel. I’m seeing the code says the device has to be installed “immediately adjacent thereto” if not part of the service. Some people are saying that it has to be installed in the first position closest to the 200 amp breaker in the sub panel. I don’t see in the manufacture instructions that say it has to go there. I’ve been just putting it anywhere in the panel and haven’t had any issues with inspectors, just want to make sure I’m not missing anything and doing it wrong.
