Having a 4000W 24v photovoltic system installed on the roof of the house and 24 of 6v battery backup in design (kitchen range and water heater is gas operated). The largest appliances is 1800 VA
(AC condenser)
Question: Can we build this house applying only section 690.10 (A)(stand alone system, no ties to the main grid)or we should be with the compliance of NEC 230.79(C) ?
The concern is continues power supply for Smoke control and egress illumination.

As much I would like people to get in this discussion, it looks like no one try to participate. I will answer myself, and the answer to this question is NO
The reason behind:
NEC "230.79 Rating of Service Disconnecting Means. The service
disconnecting means shall have a rating not less than
the calculated load to be carried, determined in accordance
with Part III, IV, or V of Article 220, as applicable. In no case shall the rating be lower than specified in 230.79(A),(B), (C), or (D).
(C) One-Family Dwellings. For a one-family dwelling,
the service disconnecting means shall have a rating of not
less than 100 amperes, 3-wire."

I think we also need to take a look at the definition under "Service"

"Service. The conductors and equipment for delivering electric
energy from the serving utility to the wiring system of
the premises served."

Any other opinions, please speak.
