Could someone verify if my calc. is correct for Maximum number of #12 thhn conductors in a 24" nipple. 151 conductors?

2" EMT is sized for "60%" at 2.013 sq-in. Table 4, Chp 9

Table C1 is 101 for #12 THHN - not part of the code, but hey... Easy to say larger pipe or fewer conductors...

Table C1 is 101 for #12 THHN - not part of the code, but hey... Easy to say larger pipe or fewer conductors...

Since 101 conductors is for 40% fill it's easy to see that the 60% fill of the nipple would allow about 50% more conductors.

101 * 50%= 50.5

101 + 50.5 = 151.5

Here's my math:

2" EMT (Table 4) = 3.356 in?.

Nipple fill (Note 4) = 60%.

3.356 * 0.60 = 2.0136.

12 THHN in? (Table 5) = 0.0133 in?

2.0136 / 0.0133 = 151.3984.


151 conductors.
