I have a machine that runs off 120 volts. Installed a 24 volt transformer to power a photo sensor that detects bad parts. When bad part is detected a 24 volt signal is sent. How do i get that 24 volt signal to activate a 120 volt shutoff switch?

You have been provided the answer, but there may be more to consider.

What is the product made by the machine? How does a photodetector determine the part is bad? How quickly must the detection system work? Must the system latch into a tripped state? If latched, how is it to be reset? What are the safety implications?

How does the photodetector work? Obscuration or reflection? Reflection using a mirror can also be an obscuration type. Is the photodetector a two wire or more wires device? Does it work with AC excitation, or require DC? Is a light source required? What is the output switching device in the photodetector? And any other questions you think up.
