240 Volt Motor Rated Toggle Switch

Hi,

In our project specifications, 20A, 240 V single phase Motor Rated toggle switch is requested. However, I couldn't find this equipment anywhere. I found motor rated switches in Hubble link below. However, this link shows that all motor rated switches are for 600V. Do you know that is there any 240 V Single phase motor rated switch or can general toggle switches be used for this purpose?

The 600V rating is the max voltage that switch can handle, not the only voltage it will accept. The insulation on your wire is likely 600V too.

Yes, these are snap switches specifically rated for motor use. They are considerably more expensive than even "spec" grade devices.

They have highly inductive loads to interrupt, so they must be able to withstand arcing.

In addition to a voltage & current rating, they also have a horsepower rating.

They have a different formulation of the contact material. Hp rated.
600v/300v is a N.E.M.A. standard I believe.

several companies make 2 & 3 pole 30 amp motor rated switches. Not sure if they offer them in 20 amp but they work great and last a long time.Installed hundreds of them in my 50 year career in every condition with great results.
