Hi Everyone,

First time ever dealing with 240V, 3ph, delta. I'm just curious on the full load amperage calcs - I've got 240V, 3ph panel with 84 kW of load and just wanted to get some verification that the load on the panel would be 84 kW / (240*sqrt(3)) = 202A.

Thanks in advance!

Sure, if your load is 100% three phase, you’re good to go. The more single phase there is, the worse the imbalance will be. I’ll never forget amping the conductors at a small Piggly Wiggly. It was an old 400 amp delta service that had seen steady, gradual load growth over 40 years and was running “hot”. Can’t recall the exact numbers but they were something like 430, 440, 150.

Geez, I'm sure that system had seen its better days. Thanks for your input!
