240V Fan Coil on 208V source

I have a project where I need to replace an old Fan Coil rated at 1.5HP. Our mechanical designer specified to replace it with a 1.5HP, 240/480V FC. The existing electrical panel is only 120/208V, 3phase. Will this work?

In most cases, yes. But it will likely draw more current, perhaps get a litter warmer and not last as long as one rated for 208V specifically. If the FC being replaced has 208V data on its nameplate, I would bring the 208V issue to designer's attention, or at least make sure he was aware of such before spec'ing the 240/480 FC.
