Was on a site visit the other day and ran across a VAV box that had a low voltage (24V) control box mounted to the side of it (basically looks like a big junction box). About 6" in front of it is a truss member. I asked about the box and it supposedly doesn't need regular access, only when there is a problem or a change needs to be made. It is partially accessible, just work around the truss member.
My thinking is that this is not my concern (falling under NEC 110.26 requirements) since it appears to me to be an integral part of the VAV equipment. Would you agree that an electrical inspector shouldn't have beef with this? The mechanical inspector on the other hand may...
