Does anybody know where I can find data on splice kits, such as stats on length of duty with no failures or occurrences, contractor or utility reviews? Also, was the percentage of fill on nipples 24" or less ever 100%? Thanks.

Here is a link for raychem. There are a few companies that make them.

It has been my experience that the length of duty and failure rate is going to depend on making sure the right part is ordered. Here, a case of a little too small is better than a little too big. I hated the old pin and socket splices we used to install in the late 80's. The failure rate for then was high. It was basically like putting a tension splice on a slack cable, it doesn't work for long. The failure rate was so high, we actually went out and dug up these old splices if we knew where they were, and replaced them with the type sold now.
I have yet to have one fail for a reason other than installation error.
