I have a question regarding the section of 250.104 (A) (2)
The code says that if there is a building with multiple occupancy and if the individual occupancies water piping is metallically isolated from all other occupancies by use of nonmetallic water piping, the metal water piping system for each occupancy shall be permitted to be bonded to the equipment grounding terminal of the panelboard.
Is there a section of code that prevents the bonding of a panelboard in a building of multiple occupancies that have a shared metal water pipe that is not isolated from the other occupancies?
Example:
A condo unit has 8 units. Each unit has it's own main panel, a single copper water line that runs through the length of the entire units. Is there a code that restricts bonding a panel from one unit (or multiple panels) to the shared copper water line. All units are derived from a single transformer.
I see that 250.104 (A)(2) allows bonding to isolated systems- but I can't find any reference to non-isolated metallic water piping bonding in a multi-occupancy building. 250.104(A)(1) Would seem to say that each unit should be bonded from each individual panel to the metallic water system. All the plumbing in each unit is copper (originally) and could be considered likely to become energized; if anyone has changed out to non-metallic the changes would be isolated to the individual unit's piping.
