Allthough 250.50 states that all grounding electrodes described in 250.52(A)(1) through (A)(6) present at each building shall be bonded together to form the grounding electrode system, if a metal underground water line is used as the main grounding electrode as per 250.52(A)(1) with a supplemental ground 252.50(A)(5) as required by 250.53(D)(2), does 250.54 preclude the need to bond the rebar in a foundation that is going to be poured 250.52(A)(3)????

250.54 has nothing to do with the required supplemental grounding electrode. It is for supplementary grounding electrodes. An example of a supplementary grounding electrode would be a signal reference ground used for sensitve electronic equipment that is sometimes connected to the frame of machinery.

That crutch can be a rod, or a CCE, or one of the other options. But, there is no main electrode. All electrodes present must be used.
This is a principle you should forget. There isn't a main grounding electrode. A water pipe is an electrode that limps along in need of a crutch.rlb109 said:
