Hi,
Am wondering if someone can explain how the resistance of concrete is calculated. 20 feet of 1/2" rebar embedded in minimum of 2" of concrete measured horizontally and bonded to other metal structural elements suffices code. Intuition (all be it not always reliable) tells me that concrete is more of an insulator that a conductive element. Isn't there a high resistance between the concrete footing and earth?
Thanks.
