I assume not a home so there are really no requirement for commercial receptacle other than those needed for equipment. etc

What kind of room? For commercial conference room there are some required receptacles.

If not a dwelling only specific requirements depending on what you have apply and there is no general 6-12 rules or similar.
Take a look at 210 part III, can disregard the largest section in there (210.52) if not a dwelling as that is what it applies to.

yes, everything is becoming battery powered anymore.
Plus a 100' extension
which is JUST long enough to reach the occupied ups fed receptacle that has something important that cant lose power plugged into it.
