2500A Feeder Size

House Dist is feeding House Mech but they are showing (8)sets of 4 #600’s in EMT with THHN. Distance is 400’. Seems like overkill asthis give about 3300 amps not considering voltage drop. Am I missing something? Thanks.

sub panel appears to be labeled "Mechanical-Roof". Is the conduit routed across the roof ?

Sounds about right. This is from the Southwire VD calculator: 6 conductors per phase utilizing a #1000 Copper conductor will limit the voltage drop to 4.94% or less when supplying 2500.0 amps for 400 feet on a 208 volt system.

It is labeled Mech- Roof but it's located inside. Conduit not routed on roof.
