277V LIGHTING-MOUNTING HEIGHT

I'm sure I've seen a minimum mounting height for 277V fixtures, but I can't find it in the book. Is there a minimum requirement. Also, can undercounter fixtures be 277V? Please help.

210.6 (C).

Edit: Oops. 210.6(C) doesn't mention height. I think you might mean 210.6(D), but that only applies to circuits with over 277V to ground.

This section does talk about voltage limitations.

I don't know of any other NEC limitation that would keep you from installing 277V lighting anywhere, as long as it adheres to 210.6(c).
I may be missing something myself, though.

I think it may be hard to find 277V fixtures that are listed for some locations. You still have to abide by the UL listing and Manufacture's instructions. If a light is not listed for undercabinet mount, then you can't use it for that.

If you think about it, a whole lot of 277V lighting fixtures are used for architectural groundlighting and are mounted - on the ground! In a wet location! I know of no restriction on the mounting height of 277V lighting per NEC.

Earlier NEC's had some restrictions on minimum height of 277V. lighting.
But it became more & more common, even mounted at grade level.

I guess because of a good safety record (lack of body count), it has become much less restricted.
