277v temp power issue

Have a project comming up that has an existing 277v panel in place that will stay because its feeding the existing rooftop unit. its a sub anchor retail store. I have a $1500 allowance for temp power and the way I am thinking of doing it is to get a 15K xfmr , small panel and a regular sheet of plywood. take the xfmr and screw the panel to one side and the temp board to the other with a whip comming out of the bottom for the primary and bond it right to the coloum next the 277v panel and viola. 2 circuits for the gfi's and 2 circuits for the temp high bays we have. what do you think. I got the idea from one of my guys who said he worked with another company that had 2 of them , they called them robots,. any ideas or issues you see. the temp power was not in my base bid and the gc is giving us this allowance and I have to produce an itemized BOM but we get to keep whatever we "manufacture"
 
If I understand you correctly it sounds fine.

We do large projects and use 480 as a distribution voltage for our temps.

We have 75 KVA transformers on skids with 225 amp 42 circuit panels mounted to them for the 208 and 120 loads.
 
what about the temp board. can you just screw it to the other side? it just seems funny. but if i dont its not going to work out the way i want it to.

I like both your ideas. However, one company I used to work for did something truly remarkable.

Since most of their jobs were large, they installed large 480 temps (2000-4000A)

To create a distribution network, they took a deep rolling gangbox (the ones with the double opening doors) and installed a 480 panel that had 42 spaces. This panel had a 100' SO cord on it and could be hooked up to the main temp. Then on the panel, a sealtite connected to a 30Kw transformer, which fed a 100A 208Y/120 panel.

To make things better, they installed an exterior box with about 10 duplex GFCIs, and had most 30A and 50A configurations right on the box. Most even had their own breaker.

Since the entire thing was contained in a gang box, it was portable (it could be pushed or forked anywhere), it was self contained, it could be moved anywhere, it was weatherproof, and it could be locked up. We used them everywhere!
And I never even had any temperature issues...
