Hi All,
I have a job replacing fluorescent fixtures with LED 2x4 fixtures. I know this subject has been posted regarding running new wire. I am doing a fixture replacement only. Wiring is already installed. Probably around mid 90’s. The wiring is NM above an acoustical ceiling in a commercial building. It’s a private bar and a hall they rent out. I understand this is not code compliant today. If I am not mistaken it was allowed when it was installed. The entire building is NM except the exposed areas. So I am woundering if the MN can stay and just swap out the fixtures since the wiring is existing. Any opinion?

My opinion is that what was compliant when installed may remain. Replacing fixtures doesn't require replacing cabling.

That is true, and will do that. However, the AV cabling is by far the biggest mess.

Have a good night,
Jim

That’s looks nice Larry. AV cabling is rather hard to maintain neatness.

Thanx! The channel only contains power cords. I never took a picture of the AV cables, but they basically hang without being bunched. Using the proper length (no longer than necessary) helps there.
