Use a normal 120 volt single pole time clock and kill the control circuit.

Many hermetic compressors have built in crankcase heaters and should have the line voltage left on 24/7.

Does anyone make a 3 ph 30 amp time clock? I have a coustomer that wants to shut off his heat pumps at nite.

Sounds more like a job for a HVAC contractor to intall a programable controller. It's not that expensive and the control circuit belongs to the HVAC guys I wouldn't mess with it.

Oh... Its a pool/spa heat pump. no control circuit, I called them.
Something has to tell the unit when to run. I bet there's a way to insert a simple 2-wire switch loop somewhere. I can't speak for warranty issues.

Otherwise, a simple time-clock will run a 3-pole contactor.

Yeah. Most people call them a programmable thermostat, and do it on the control circuit.

Thanks Marc, I was thinking thermostat and wrote controller.

But a small White-Rodgers or Honeywell programmable thermostate is just the thing.

The only reason I don't install those anymore is because I was told that I could void the warranty. It's a good little money maker, quick and easy to install but here you are suposed to be a licensed HVAC contractor or work for one.

Right here.

Just remember that a heat pump thermostat is different, and since this is 3-phase, you might even need a stat with more than one stage. Just a head's up.
