3 Phase disconnect switch with jumper wire- Have you seen this??

We received 3 Phase disconnect switch with jumper wire as shown in the photo from Eaton. The wire runs from line side of B phase to the load side of A phase.
W are using the switch for a single phase operation.

Has anyone seen this before,or understand the rationale?:?

You must run two contacts in series to get a 600VDC rating for solar PV systems. Everyone offers them that way. You can remove the jumper and use as normal.

And note that there are only two fuse mounting locations, so it is clear that this was designed as a two-pole disconnect, with all three contacts in the interrupting path for a line to line load rather than just two.

Switches and contactors in series handle opening under load better, and behave as if the contacts are opening faster.

A little bit off topic, yet similar so I thought I'd throw it in here, you also see similar done with AC motor starters that have phase loss protection features, but the load served is a single phase load, this to prevent it tripping because it sees it as a lost phase if you don't load all three poles.
