3 Phase Fusing

I need any reference to the use of fuses of the same type and size but different manufacturers. I understand the NEC directs "All fuses of the same manufacturer" in fuse coordination. But in older industrial machinery control panels prior to 2003, is there any requirement for the same manufacture in a single 3 phase leg when replacing a blown fuse? Would it make a difference when using low-peak fuses?

The only instance I can think of for using fuses of the same manufacturer is when an engineered series-rated AFC coordination has been implemented [110.22]... but I am uncertain when that section was implemented. I know some text has been added over the years. The 2002 NEC mentions nothing about being "engineered" or "tested"... but the same requirement for labeling existed. That said, even the current requirement does not specify OCP from the same manufacturer... but in all likelihood that may be the only tested implementation.

This is not an area I excel in so others may have more input...

A UL series-rating is not allowed to depend on fuses from any specific manufacturer. In fact the UL testing is done using 'umbrella fuses' that have specifically designed poor performance.
