I've got a power inptu spec a a piece of gear that states 208V (OK so far) and "3-phase and 3-line". And they are looking for 160A. That seems aweful high for 208V. I've got 480V/400A, so that's no problem. I'm just put of as to how to transform it to the input requirements. Are they expecting my to go delta-wye and then make 3ph 208V out of that? Just seems odd.

Thanks for any insight. Sku

The equipment only needs the (3) hot lines, it does not need the 4th wire (neutral).

Use a standard 480-208Y/120 (delta-wye) transformer.

160 amps times 208 volts times the square root of three gives you about 57 KVA. That is not a large number for a 208 volt system. I would use a 75 KVA transformer.
