I'm about to acquire an Italian made saw that's 3-phase, and has been running here in the US for a while in a workshop that's closed. Of course my shop is "normal" and only has single phase. The markings on the motor say:
V 208*/360
2.94 Kw
4 HP
If it requires 208V (I assume that's what the marking means), and if I can provide nominally 220V would a phase converter just regenerate the same voltage but in three-phase? Do you think 220V three phase would be a problem with this motor? I'm not sure I'm giving you enough information to answer that question. I contacted the manufacturer but they haven't responded yet. Also, would the phase converter need to be rated in constant HP at 4HP or greater? Do you have a recommendation for a rotary phase converter (I assume rotary would be best)?
Thank you.
