I know it will function, but is there any code violation in using a 3-Pole switch where only a 2-Pole switch is required? The amperage/voltage ratings are met.

Sometimes the 3 pole is more readily available and as Jumper stated code compliant.

No. I imagine a three pole is a bit more expensive though.

You did not by chance mean a 3 way in lieu of a single pole did you? Still legal also.

It's definitely a 3-Pole/30A/600V Switch. I only needed 2-Pole, but as Infinity stated, I can get the 3-Poles much quicker.

Some of the 3 pole "switches" I've used are manual motor starters and include overload protection; if this is what you are looking at, be sure it can be wired for single phase use. Mine required current to go trough all 3 poles, but that just requires a jumper.

The name plate gives a HP rating for 120/240/480/600V, so I'm feeling pretty confident, but I will keep that in mind. Thanks.
