In July 07 I was faced with adding a customer supplied 3 pole ATS to an existing SDS. As you can see in the first pic the mechanism for the 4th pole was existing. The monitoring wires were also existing.

We got the parts (Kohler) from Mexico last week. Bunch of little parts in bags with no instructions. Unlike Lake Shore ATS's, Kohler manuals have no exploded view or part numbers.

It took 2 hours for the Kohler rep., a boat captian and myself to figure this out.

I like dealing with that type of stuff, that is much more interesting then the normal day to day work.

I wonder how the listing works out?

I just recently learned on this forum that the field installation of breaker trip units makes the item no-longer listed.

Get yourself some white-out and open your book to 110(3)(B).

The Kohler rep said this has not been done before. Yet the parts are available (they only take 8 months to get). Go figure.
