Do they make any 3-way lamp bulbs smaller than 30-70-100 watts? Both the settings of 70 and 100 are much too bright. What about something like a 15-45-60? Anyone know of a good light bulb source (presumably online)?

Why not by a dimmer for the lamp cord or change the receptacle to one that is legal for a dimmer switch. Then you could have 150 watts on down (usually)

Put a small power diode inline with the socket. A 1N4003 (1a, 200v) or 1N4004 (1a, 400v) would be a good choice.

This will approximately halve the brightness, giving you roughtly 15-35-50 watts' worth of light with a 30-70-100w bulb.

Unless you specifically don't want a dimmer, I agree with Dennis. You can even find lamp sockets with built-in dimmers.
