I inspected a job where some heat trace was installed without the required (427.22) GFI .
The tape is in a Class 1 Div II area and the breaker supplying it is foreign.
Does anyone know of a in-line GFI device that can be added in line at the panel ?

Thanks, but I'm looking for the 30 ma GF protection for heat tape installs.
Those were 5 ma GFCI, I believe.

The note at the bottom of page 14 reads.

Note: A panel mount Equipment Leakage Circuit Interrupter (ELCI) is also available.

Thought that meant 30ma.

I suspect you will find that the manufacturer has their own GFI cordset that they specify be used with their product. That part would be the 30mA GFCI.

A summary od GFCI reasons, ar referenced in the NEC:

5mA: Personnel protection

20mA: Old pool lights

30mA: Equipment protection
