Hey y'all,
Apologies for goin back to this one (I searched te archives), but I am curious if anyone has any cost friendly yet code compliant methods of supporting multiple runs of MC in drop ceilings. I've seen it done a few different ways, and they all seem wrong to me. Inspectors around here always seem to be late fo something more important, so anything short of laying it on the grid gets the green flag. Caddy makes some relevant products, but they are a bit pricey. Thanks.

If I may,
What do you use? Those MCS series hangers seem efficient, do you secure both ends of your drop-wire?

In My Oppinion you have two chioces spend the money on the caddy fasteners (IMO good choice) or spend the money on time (IMO bad choice)

The BATWINGS that clip the cable to the pencil rod are by far the quickest paint your pencil rod (ceiling grid wire) orange or some other color fasten it the same way that the ceiling grid guy does and cltp the cabe to these with the batwings you may even get the ceiling grid guy to install your pencil rods for you so you do not distort his ceiling.

by painting them the rods are not part of the support of the ceiling but for your cables

you should be supporting your fixtures so what is a few more for your cables

I have used all of the products that Larry mentioned above. They all work just fine.
The least costly way would certainly be to use ceiling wire and wrap it around the cables before you fasten the bottom end to the grid, but be careful about bundling.

Ok, I'm terrible. I use tie wraps supplied by the company I work for. Always ask the ceiling guy to add the wires for me. or else run my cables hang 'em high with twisted little pieces of wire, then after the grid is in, go back through and drop the wires and tie wrap the mc. Ok, nevermind...I use batwings. What if you cut your ceiling wire long enough so you could pass them through your grid side support and still have enough length to go back up and wrap your mc?
