Code section 300.22 is not clear on switches and receptacles in other space for enviormental air.
Is there anything in the code that clairfies this situtation? I can not find references that allow it and I can not find references that do not allow this.

I would say if you can satisfy 300.22(C)(2) but I would guess that you cannot with switches and receptacles. Does the plastic on the switch have adequate fire resisitance and low smoke producing characteristics? If you can show that then I would say go for it.

Check out these nifty products, they are listed for environmental air space. Haven't had to use them, but I imagine you could put in a switch as well with the receptacle.
