This section allows equipment and wiring to be located above layin ceilings. Is this permission affected by ceiling structures that capture the ceiling tiles to prevent their removal or dislodging? These are sometimes used in fire or earthquake qualified systems. The only way to get the tiles out is to break at least a portion of the tile.

Re: 300.23

There is usually a key tile, in each room, for accessing the interlocked ceiling system.

I have seen some with a red headed straight pin stuck in the key tile for identification.

Consult a local ceiling company for information.
