I want to install 3/4 pvc or ENT in a 5" post tension slab parking garage deck with cars driving on the top. the rebar and post tension cables will make it impossble to maintain 2" below the conduit.
do you see a code issue with this? I know 2" must be maintained on the top of it. but does 300.5 note 2 indicate there needs to be a 2" "encasement " of the conduit?
that article seems to only apply to raceways that are "direct bury listed only"....
thanks for your help.

What does the structural engineer say about this.
I am sure he wouldn't like your method.

I was thinking the same thing.

I would be surprised if they want a PVC conduit less than 2" from the surface in a 5" post tension slab. I would think running exposed on the surface will be required.

we are doing a parking deck (post tension slab) where all of the conduits on the upper decks are being removed / filled . They find the water and salt from the cars get in to the cracks of the decks and eat the conduits and steel up. the conduits in the upper deck acts as gutter moving the salt water through the deck. The engineer on this job wants them out.

You might end up having to RMC on the surface or Aluminum. Since it would be out of harms way. They are both, more expensive, but so is having to replace everything all the time. Or worse, someone getting killed. I've done parking garages before and I've used both. Just need to make sure that everything is wrench tight. Hope this helps.
