When installing a 300 amp 277/480 3 phase service does this require a ct cabinet?
And if not are the meter pans supplied by poco?

You need to check with your poco for that info. I suspect CT and I suspect you must supply it but check with them for they all have their own rules.

there are 400 amp meters and sockets available. You provide the socket poco provides meter.
This is true, but not every PoCo has a meter botique at their disposal. They try to standardize a little bit, and get the meter inventory pared down to "a few sizes fits all" situation. Best to check w/the PoCo, for sure, but I'd almost bet they're going to want to CT meter that. I've seen direct metering of 480 at 400 amps, but not very often.

Ours apparently does; they provide meter bases, even multiple-meter ones. I've never bought a meter base.

Long Island NY, the PoCo has a list of approved Meter Pans and CT cabinets we can choose from but the customer is responsible for the meter enclosure. While you probably won't find a 300A 480V meter pan they do make 400Amp versions and i think even up to 800 Amps meter enclosures, any larger we need separate CT cabinets "Delta Metals" is one of the approved manufacturers here.
