We have spots set-up on the backwall, the person who ran the circuit only put in a 20amp circuit and with all the spots on, it pulls 18amps consistently. Which it trips the breaker when they get shut off and turned back on. Can I run a 30amp circuit to handle the spots, they do plug into a 2g outlet box or do I need to seperate it into 2 20amp circuits?

I want things to be safe and meet the code.

Another option would be to convert to Halogen with the same lumen output as existing lamps. Or convert Metal Halide. Phillips makes a self ballasted PAR38 metal halide spot that simply screws into an existing fixture. The 25 watt MH has about the same lumen output as a 90 watt reflector spot. A CRI of 87 and 3000K color temp. make for good indoor display lighting. See www.1000bulbs.com for all the details.
Depending on the hours these lights are used, the payback could be quick.
