(a) A neutral conductor that carries only the unbalanced current from other conductors of the same circuit?

If one has a round-housed for 3 120v circuits wouldn?t this neutral be for 3 different circuits - plural rather than singular?

It would be one circuit however, the NEC allows us to consider it as three.

I agree with Roger and the Article 100 definition of a Multiwire branch circuit backs it up.
