Two questions guys:

1) 314.21 indicates that you need to repair gaps larger than 1/8" around a flush coverplate on plaster/drywall and plasterboard walls. Does this also apply to a flush box/plate installed in CMU? I know some of my colleagues would ask contractors to apply some caulk and be done with it, but is this required?

2) Is there a maximum distance allowed for conduit before you need to install a junction box (straight run only)?

Thanks!

1). 314.21 is there to prevent the spead of fire. In a CMU wall, I don't believe the gap would matter, unless it was a true fire wall. (IMHO)

2). No, just a perpetual rumor in the electrical trade. There may be job specs, local amendments or need for them at certain intervals for any number of reasons. Keep in mind, a pull point must be established every 360 degrees of bends/ offsets. ( 346.11)

Distance is not a NEC issue. Done runs over 700+' without a problem. There's a reason they make BIG air compressors!:D
