314.28(C) says all j-boxes shall be provided with covers compatible with the box.
I've always wondered if a plastic cover is considered compatible with a metal box.

Is a Stainless Steal cover compatable with a plastic box ?

The plastic cover is fine on a metal box. The reverse however would require grounding the metal cover.

And this can be accomplished with a metal screw on a metal yoke that is grounded.

Unless it's a blank cover.
When they talk about compatable they are really talking about the right cover on the right box. You sometimes see round blanks on hexagon boxes and many times the don't fit right and leave gaps. I've seen guys drill out 4/S blanks and put them on light boxes.
