Basically tells you need a bushing no matter what size pipe, right? At least that's the way I read it. My question is; It says unless the design of the box, fitting or enclosure is such as to afford equivalent protection. What exactly do they mean by the design of the box affording the equivalent protection? Do they mean a box that has threaded hubs or something? That's about all I can think of for what they're talking about. Any other examples?

I think it means exactly what I bolded in your statement.

I have sleeved romex in pvc and used a coupling on the end and that satisfied the inspectors.

I'm talking about rigid though, 344 not PVC.

Is a coupling listed for the exit of conductors into a box or anything else?

We have a city here that will only accept TA's, connectors or bushings such as EMT 75 on sleeves.

As it pertains to RMC to many people not taking that nasty edge off it after threading. Local inspector here wants anything 1'' and over to have a bushing.

Which is fine but what exactly is a box designed to be equivalent protection of a bushing?

Thats what I was thinking, a box that has threaded hubs. I can't think of anything else.

I think it maybe tuff to get a bushing in a bell box:rolleyes:

What is EMT 75?

What Bob said. But it's more of a tap on white bushing that goes right on the EMT.(no connector required) I use them alot for V/D and F/A stub ups.
