Hey y'all,
Has anyone ever been able to get to consensus on the debate over whether a bushing is required on RNC regardless of size. I just read every post on this forum, and it seems that it all hinges on whether the CMP considers a male "adapter" an "adapter" that truly provides "equivalent" protection. A box adapter is clearly smooth, but a male adapter? I'm not convinced, and for what it's worth, I would require the bushing.

On another note, why does the IAEI.org forum seem like a cyber ghost-town?

thanks

C3PO,
352.46 Bushings.
Where a conduit enters a box, fitting, or other enclosure, a bushing or adapter shall be provided to protect the wire from abrasion unless the box, fitting, or enclosure design provides equivalent protection.
The rule has nothing to do with the size of either the raceway or the conductors.

IMHO a pvc male adapter provides that protection. I thought carlon had some documentation that backed this up.

I know that I was red-flagged for this very thing years ago. Since then, I have used plastic bushings on most larger (1?" + up) PVC conduits using male adapters.

I don't need any additional protection when using "box" or female adapters, however.

I guess it depends on what kind of adapter. I know what a bushing is but I'm not sure that my definition of an adapter that is suitable will match up with an inspectors.PS Bushings are realy cheap!!
