Wireways shall be supported where run horizontally at each end and at intervals not to exceed 1.5 m (5 ft) or for individual lengths longer than 1.5 m (5 ft) at each end or joint, unless listed for other support intervals. The distance between supports shall not exceed 3 m (10 ft).

This section says I need to support wireways at the ends and at 5' intervals. I wish it stopped there where I can understand.

But it goes on to say the distance shall not exceed 10 feet. Which is it 5' or 10'?

The 10' is for individual lengths more than 5'. If you had a section that was an individual length of say 20' (made up number) then the support distance apart is increased to 10'. If you're using wireways in lengths of 5' you ignore the 10' distance dimension.

So it says what's below?

Wireways 5' and under get supported at the ends and at intervals no more than 5' (which is redundant)
Wireways over 5' get supported at ends and at intervals no more than 10'
(and if the manufacturer says it can be further, then that's okay too)
