I would like to know if NEC allows the use of smaller than 6" wide cable tray. The reason of my question is that if I follow Table 392.9, the minimun tray size is 6". In my case, I need to put (1) 3c- 3/0AWG and (1) 3c-6AWG. My total cross section is 2.3 in^2. If I follow the table I need to have a 6" tray. But can I use, instead, Table 3929(E), column 2 (which would give me a width of 4" instead). My tray type is ladder, 12" wide, but I will use dividers to create a 4" wide section for my 480V.
