I need to make a splice and a tap in an underground service lateral. I have checked with the POCO and have their permission. The UG 4/0 alum lateral feeds an existing house and the tap will feed a new barn. The lateral currently runs where the barn will be built so it must be moved.
I plan to dig up the DB lateral, put two hand holes then run new 4/0 underground around the new barn. I plan to run a conduit from one of the new hand holes to the barn and put #2 alum in it to feed a 100 amp service. Load calcs are not an issue. The house service is oversized and the barn won't draw much... a few lights and some small power tools.
My criimp tool only goes up to 4/0 copper so I want to use a mechanical splice but it must have a place for a third wire and be waterproof. The other splice will be straight through 4/0 - 4/0 but again must be water proof. Anybody know a good product?
