Sorry I am having such a hard time with this. Thanks for sticking it out. 314.28 (A)(2) is titled "Angle or Upulls, or Splices." How can this not be about bending radii?

The individual conductors be bent in a tight 90° bend to enter the LB. If you were using a cable then the cable Article would tell you about the bend radius. For example SE cable can only be bent at a radius equal to a minimum ratio of 5X it's diameter. Making a tight 90° bend in that cable would be a violation if it didn't have a bend radius greater than or equal to 5X the diameter.
