I have look in the code book and have not found a good answer to this question. Are you allowed to put more than one 4 KV branch circuit in a conduit?

Re: 4 KV circuits

No these are branch circuits feeding two motors from a sub station. One motor is 3000hp 4 KV 375 FLA, the other is 250 Hp 60 some Amps

I'm not aware of a code restriction that would prevent you from making that installation. I'd look at the conduit run from the cable pulling standpoint before doing this. There is a large difference in the outside diameter of the two different size conductors and there is risk of damage to the smaller one with a long pull and a couple of 90s.

Thanks guys for the input, the type of wire we use is generally Okoguard-okoseal Type MV-105. That has the 105C rating 100% and 133% Insulation level, shielded. I know that the two different size wire can play a problem in the pull, but not that big of one. Mostly I was trying to find out if you can put two 4KV circuits in one conduit

Yes. But be sure to de-rate the conductors per Table 310.15(B)(2)(a).

Charlie I looked at that table and it is for 0-2000KV are you saying it is the same for 4KV also? The total run is about 250ft. 100 plus ft. underground and the rest in cable tray over head.

Re: 4 KV circuits

Oops! :( You?re right, and I have to retract my previous response. I still think that to run more than one 4kV circuit in the same conduit is not forbidden by the code. But there is no table in the series of 310.67 to 310.86 that applies to six conductors in a single conduit. That places you in the realm of ?engineering supervision,? per 310.60(D).
