I would think it would be a common item. I need it for the conduit coming into a transformer from underground. The 90 degree elbow comes up from about 36" down so you have to extend it to grade. Is there a 4" nipple that will screw into the coupling that's exactly the right length to be 4" below the top of the concrete pad? We just cut the ends off two sticks to use the threaded end on four elbows and cut them to length.

But my usual supply house searched and searched and didn't have one in any of their locations. And I visited another supply house today and as soon as I got the words 4" threadless he cut me off and said, "NOPE".

We use something like this all of the time. You could also you a listed EMT connector with a regular threaded bonding bushing. Most EMT connectors are listed for RMC once you get about 2" trade size.

I take it you don't have a means to thread 4" conduit?

If that's the case what we used to do a few years ago, was we'd take our conduit down to our local irrigation and plumbing supply store and have them thread it for us. It's all National Pipe thread. Water pipe, sprinkler pipe, conduit, gas pipe, it's all the same thread. That may be quicker than waiting for some of those special bond bushings to come in without any threads in them.

Just an idea.

It's a good thought. I'd have to dig up the stone and dirt around it to unscrew it from the elbows, but if that would make it easier. I guess I should call Republic Plumbing and see if they'll do it.
