4 tube layins with two tubes

Hi I have a customer that has a bunch or 4' Layin fixtures with T8 tubes each fixture has 1 Electronic ballast that lights all 4 Lamps my question is if we take out 2 lamps and leave only 2 lamps in will that harm the ballast in any way

If this helps, some 3 lamp T8's use a 4 lamp ballast with one blue wire capped off. We used to pull 1 bulb of a 2 lamp T12 Slimline and install a "shunt" bulb.

If it's "rapid start", (series wired), it won't light. If it's "instant start", (parallel wired), it will light but is probably rated for 3 or 4 lamps and not 2. The label should tell you the number of lamps you can use and the amps drawn on the different configurations.
