I am working on a Data Center and the installation includes both 480/277 and 208/120 systems. Those color codes have been clearly defined in the specifications.

My question revolves around the 3 phase 4 wire output from the PDU's to the RPPs (Remote Power Panels). The voltage is 400/230 Volts.

In the UK the color code for 400/230 volts is Brown, Black, Gray, with a Blue neutral.

What color code works with the NEC in the US?

The grounding conductor will have to remain green.

The grounded conductor will have to remain white or gray.

The ungrounded conductors have to be any color other than above or the colors used for the other voltage systems.

Its always seemed a bit odd to me that 210.5 calls for distinct identification of ungrounded conductors where a premises has more than one nominal voltage system whereas 200.6 only calls for "other distinguishable" means for the grounded conductor when they share the same raceway, enclosure, etc.
Unless you have that (sharing enclosure, etc), I don't see where all grounded conductors can't be the same color.
Am I wrong ?
I encourage distinct identification when there are two systems, but I don't see the requirement on grounded conductors.

As pointed out, grounded and grounding conductors are dictated by the NEC, but ungrounded are not, other than they must be different that the other systems in the building, such as black red, blue, brown, orange yellow NOT.
You need them to be consistent throughout the facility.

BTW, nice to see a data center venturing into the higher voltage for the servers that are capable already out of the box.
I've been mentioning this option to clients, but they are nervous about having a third set of voltage standards in the building.

They have decided on BOY - Gray - Green all with Blue tracer.

They have taken my advice and are going to post signage in the Data Hall to alert the electricians that there are 3 different voltages present.

The PDU's are hard wired from their location in the UPS room to the Remote Power Panels (RPP's) in the Data Hall. I have not seen the connectors on the whips from the RPP's to the server racks, soon I hope.

Thanks for all the help.
